Living in a Fallen World
The reason why people have different views on things isn't just because everybody's different. It's because everybody has different backgrounds.
Backgrounds
How people view something can be a very easy thing for people to start an argument about. Something to keep in mind though is that people’s points of view on things are often shaped by what their background is like. It was brought up to me earlier this week how different my and one of my friend’s testimonies are. For me, I went through very traumatic experiences as a child that made me scared of humans. For the friend of mine mentioned here, it has to do with the fact that her parents are hippies.
Undesired Interactions
One of the things that was hard for me when it came to working at Safeway was that there were a lot of guys on drugs and guys who were trying to get me to go out with them that would keep talking with me over and over again. I didn’t want the people on drugs to feel like they were unloveable, but that made it so that they felt like I would love to talk with them whenever they wanted. I wanted the guys who were trying to get me to go out with them to understand that I didn’t want to go out with someone whom I’ve never met, but that just made them try harder and harder to make me go out with them.
Living In a Fallen World
Something to keep in mind about those people is that they undoubtedly grew up living a different life than I did. I’m not saying that those interactions and lifestyles should be accepted by people as okay ways to live, but we should accept the fact that we’re not perfect either. No person is perfect, no families are perfect, no lifestyles are perfect, etc. That’s just part of living in a fallen world. Thankfully, we have a God who is loving and accepting to an unimaginably strong extent. There are definitely right and wrong choices, but choosing the wrong path doesn’t mean that God won’t love us anymore. It simply means that God is loving and forgiving. That is something we should find a lot of comfort in.
