Something I love about being a Christian is the kind of person God turns us into once we become one of His children. Are you not a Christian? I hope this post will help you realize how wonderful it is to be a part of the family of God. Do you believe that you are a Christian? I hope this post will help you evaluate your faith to help confirm whether or not you are a true Christian. Keep in mind… not everyone who thinks they are a Christian are actually a true Christian. Let’s hope that God will say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Thinking that you are a true Christian but having God say to you, “I never knew you.” is a freaky thought. God certainly doesn’t want to have to say that to anybody.
Marks of a True Christian (Romans 12:9-21)
Romans 12:9-12, “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil;hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Something I find interesting about being a Christian is that being a Christian is about more than just believing that there is a God who exists. Being a Christian also has to do with our relationship with God and who we are.
Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:19-26)
Galatians 5:19-26, “Now the works of the flesh are evident; sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealously, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Something I love about the fruits of the Spirit is that they aren’t listed in the Bible as commands. Instead, they are listed as attributes that someone is going to inherit as a result of having the Holy Spirit inside of them.
Final Words (for this post)
Something I want to make sure that I point out is that God does not guarantee that lives will be easy for us if we choose to follow Him. In all honesty, God wants us to be aware that there are many people who may be against us because of it. There is also the possibility that God will teach you or do something big through trials. I can happily say though is that God knows how to make your life wonderful. It is also wonderful to be around the personality of someone who has the Holy Spirit in them.
If you think you are a Christian, I want you to make sure you spend time evaluating your faith. Make sure that you don’t simply believe that a God exists but rather that the Holy Spirit is inside of you. Everyone who has become a follower of God will have the Holy Spirit inside of them. Everyone who has not become a follower of God will not have the Holy Spirit inside of them.
If you know that you are not a Christian, I hope you realize the value and peace that comes alongside being a Christian. Sure, life won’t always be easy. Life will always be worth it though if Christ is in your life. Make sure that you’re goal if you choose to become a Christian is to honor God and to have a relationship. That’s what’ll lead to the wonderful results I listed above.
If you like what I decided to go through in this post, I would also suggest going through the spiritual gifts in the Bible. What spiritual gifts do you have (if you are a Christian)? If you can’t identify what spiritual gifts you have, ask yourself if your faith is true. Every Christian will have at least one. If you can identify any spiritual gifts you have, use them for God’s glory. The Bible mentions very straightforwardly that he gave us these gifts for His glory… and He sure deserves the glory.
